Hi, I’m Rick Vasquez, the author of “A Mountain Within.”

Thank you for joining us in the sharing of dreams, love, hardships, and the gift of forgiveness, of others and self.

 

I wrote the first draft of A Mountain Within in 1976, making my last entry in 2006. I love the story of the Lore family. Amidst the process of writing about their challenges and struggles, I didn’t fully realize to what extent I was caught up in my own dysfunctions, spending several years trying to conquer my mountains.

 

I like to think of my novel as a spicy entrée placed on a large white, porcelain plate. Without a good side dish, the rawness of the novel can be hard to digest, giving the reader a sense of heartburn. The audiobook snippets serve as the side dish, enhancing the meaning and presentation of the entrée. With music on each episode, the audiobook snippets help the listener to absorb an emotional story, garnishing it with hope and understanding.

 

Finally, what brings it all together is a fine wine splashing our taste buds, pulling all flavors into meaning and purpose. This wine is the presence of God in each of our lives. We all know that wine requires a certain aging process based on years, locations, and God’s perfect timing. These factors produce the delicacies of a well matured wine. After you find what gives you hope, peace, and joy, the only question is, why did it take so long to find my love?
